White lions are something else…

First seen in the wild in the Timbavati region in South Africa in 1938, then almost gone extinct but managed to survive and are around again since 2004 up to present day. White lions are not albino, but a color mutation of the South African lions. Interestingly, their white colored fur does not seem to be a disadvantage to their survival.

I managed to get close to this beautiful and charismatic white male lion and his light colored eyes checked mine through the lens. An amazing magical moment of connection was caught on camera. This lion is really ‘the special one’ to me. Location: South Africa
